Cyclo Cross

A report from the Crabwood Cyclo Cross 3rd January.

Adrian Lansley (PedalOn) survived the worst conditions possible to win the latest round of the Wessex Cyclo Cross League at the Southampton Sports Centre. He was pushed all the way until the last half a lap by Jody Crawforth (Hargroves Cycles) winning with a margin of just 7secs. Sam Allan (PedalOn) was third finishing just over a minute down.

Heavy overnight rain and another down pour early morning turned the course into a mud fest. Even the earlier races did little to chew up the ground as the heavy rain washed even more slippery mud to the surface.

The Club Dinner was again held at the West Wellow Golf Club, where we all enjoyed a good meal again. Thanks to Derek Panks for the guest speakers spot, who gave us a history of his career in cycling. Congratultions to all the trophy winners, even you Pat. I would like to thank Claire for organising the dinner.

Darts.

Unfortunately we couldn’t find enough players to make up a team for the 2015/16 season darts league. However Pat and myself played for the Antelope B team as they were also short of players. I can report that we had a rather successful season, we finished as league champions, gallon champions and Pat “The Power” Lafford was the individual knock out champion, as if he hadn’t won enough trophies this year. Winning the deciding game with shoot out of 73.

The birthday tea will be held on 19/26th June. We are looking for a venue, so are there any volunteers who would like to host this prestigeous event. Please contact Claire if you would like to be the host.
